Massive music festival with lots of concerts and great international bands - this year for instance Bruce Springsteen and Björk. The Roskilde Festival is the largest North European music festival and has existed since 1971.

MARIBO JAZZFESTIVAL

THE HERRING MARKET IN STEGE
Every year in the beginning of September the Herring Market in Stege takes place. This medieval herring fairy tale relives once more on the quays and waterfronts of the harbour town. The fisherman shore up by the quay and sell the fresh herring straight from their boats. Local delicacies are offered and there are a multitude of samples. All your senses will be enticed by the herring sandwiches, medieval music and a variety of maritime activities.

SAILING WITH THE VIKINGS
Experience the Viking ships manoeuvrability and appreciate its skill at close quarters with a voyage to Roskilde Fjord. Museum visitors are the crewing the boat and have to take an active part in the sailing - rowing, setting sail and maybe man the rudder. A skilled sailing instructor is in charge on all trips.
